Genyo Welcomes Philippine schools to the Classroom of the Future |
Can you imagine students virtually dissecting frogs so Kermit would not lose a cousin? Imagine, too, students becoming a dragon's sidekick in his adventure, assisting him by solving Math problems? Would you rather hear the sounds of little hands typing on keyboards instead of chalks screeching on blackboards?
These form part of scenarios in the classrooms of the future! The good news is that the future is here with at least for fourteen forward-looking schools that are enjoying superior learning experience powered by Genyo Online E-Learning System.
Some 12,000 students from Canossa School of Sta. Rosa, Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Calamba, Colegio de Sta. Rosa of Makati, First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, Hope Christian High School, Juan Sumulong Memorial School System, PAREF Woodrose, San Sebastian College Recoletos Manila, and St. Paul College of Makati, learn by clicking, typing and watching lessons come alive in front of them.
The way these students learn and their teachers teach are fast-changing and adapting to the needs of the times. In these classrooms, teachers use technology to effectively teach students who are growing up with technology, preparing them for the high-tech global workplace and giving them the same quality educations as their counterparts in more advanced countries.
Teachers pique students' attention with visually appealing graphics, animations and video clips instead of blackboard drawings. These are projected in white boards using LCD projectors.
After discussing lessons, students who each have their own username and password can log on to the Genyo site and answer seat works assigned to them, still with the same colorful graphics and animations that appeal to them. It is just like playing while learning.
If there is extra classroom time, students can go to the virtual game room to continue playing and learning.
Classrooms, in effect, come alive with renewed enthusiasm, interaction and learning.
Aside from lessons, students also see on their own homepage their tests, homeworks, school calendars and other reminders. They can also participate in a forum or write blogs.
The classroom of the future is virtually anywhere, even in the comfort of their homes. Now, students who are recuperating from sickness or who want to do advanced studies or review previous lessons can access their Science, Math, English, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan lessons anywhere, as long as they have computers with internet connection.
Parents can now become more involved in their child's school experience. Parents can log on using their children's passwords to view lesson plans, homework, attendance record and even grades.
The classroom of the future is a substantiation of Diwa Learning System's vision for cutting-edge learning environment for superior learning experience. The company is celebrating 25 years of leading in ICT integrated education. Aside from Genyo, it also introduced Diwa Learning Town, an online resource that provides various educational resources such as lessons, activities, reading materials, references, and the like which help to reinforce and enrich the teaching-learning experience in and out of the classroom.
Teachers using Diwa textbooks or scholastic enhancement materials will find aids like e-dictionary, e-thesaurus, teacher's manual, online reviewers and even professional development resources in this site. Students, on the other hand, can access anywhere, in or out of the classroom e-pages of Diwa's scholastic enhancement materials like Tatsulok, Bato Balani, Math Talino or Salaguinto. There are also games uploaded, loaded with lessons, aside from the e-dictionary and e-thesaurus.
While chalks, blackboards and textbooks are still needed, classroom set-up must transform to reflect this new landscape which now produces world-class and globally competitive graduates.
