Diwa Kicks Off Year 2 of Learning Expo for Educators |
The Diwa Superior Learning Experience (SLE) Expo promotes the integration of technology in the teaching and learning process.
Diwa Learning Systems Inc, the leading provider of technology-driven educational solutions for basic education, launches the second year of "Future-Proof Your Students: The Diwa Superior Learning Experience (SLE) Expo." The seminar series will once again make the rounds of key provinces in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, starting at the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) in Tanauan, Batangas for educators from private basic education schools from Laguna, Batangas, and Cavite.
This year, the Diwa SLE Expo will present topics regarding technology integration in Philippine classrooms, K to 12, change management, and a workshop on the application of technology in the Understanding by Design approach. Speakers include Diwa executive director and ICT-integration advocate Jose Ma. Policarpio, adviser to the K to 12 Steering Committee of the Department of Education Isagani Cruz, and educational technology expert Nenita Habulan.
"In the first year of the Expo, we showcased the latest innovations in our textbooks, classroom magazines, and e-learning program so that our teachers and school administrators can get a feel of a classroom setup that is responsive to the learning styles of our new breed of learners and their future workplace," says Diwa Learning Systems executive director Elma Ropeta. “This year, we will be teaching them how to mix and match these array of resources, with greater focus on pedagogy.”
She adds, “aside from this, we have decided to help the Department of Education in spreading information about the planned implementation of K to 12 in the country. We feel that it is our corporate social responsibility to the educational industry to help in the information campaign for the project. “
For years, Diwa has been advocating the use of ICT in the classroom. Its textbooks are linked to an online learning portal called the Diwa Learning Town and are now available in e-pub format. Its classroom magazines now come in both digital and printed editions, which are the first in the country.
More recently, all its educational resources have been made available in one mobile device that makes “anytime, anywhere learning” a reality. Called Classroom in a Tablet, this mobile education system is the company's solution to the growing need for effective ways of delivering content. “We realized that we needed a delivery system that made content more relevant,” says Diwa executive director Jose Ma. Policarpio. “So we have put together GENYO eLearning, eTextbooks, digital classroom magazines, and our online portal in one mobile device to give our schools, teachers, and students their personalized Classroom in a Tablet.”
First stop of the exposition is the South Luzon this December 27, 2011. It will be followed by National Capital Region on January 7 and 21, 2012; North Luzon on January 13, 2012; Visayas on January 28, 2012; and Mindanao on February 4, 2012.
