Cainta Catholic College (CCC) became a center for professional growth on May 19, 2026, as it hosted a specialized training session entitled “Empowering Educators for Transformative Learning: Innovative Pedagogies for Faith, Excellence, and 21st Century Education.” The event gathered Science teachers from Grades 3 to 12 representing both the Diocese of Antipolo Catholic Schools Association (DACSA) and the Manila Archdiocesan and Parochial Schools Association (MAPSA).
The session was facilitated by Ms. Helen Yap, a veteran educator, training specialist, and Diwa textbook author with 25 years of classroom experience. Bringing a unique perspective rooted in her background in Psychology and Early Childhood Education from De La Salle University, Ms. Helen provided the faculty with a deep dive into the psychological foundations of student engagement. Her discussion challenged the attending educators to rethink traditional science instruction, moving toward a model where students across all grade levels are active participants in discovery rather than passive recipients of information.

Bridging Innovation and Instruction
Following a morning plenary session, the Science teachers participated in high-impact breakout workshops tailored to their specific grade levels. These sessions were designed to translate complex 21st-century pedagogical theories into practical classroom applications, from elementary science to senior high school research. Teachers explored the effective use of diverse instructional resources, ensuring that their science curriculums not only meet global academic standards but also nurture the critical thinking skills necessary for students to lead with both competence and character.
This significant advancement in faculty development was made possible through the collaboration of Diwa Learning Systems Inc. and Bato Balani Foundation Inc. (BBFI), reflecting a shared mission of elevating Philippine education through innovative teacher training.
