Recognizing that a student’s success is a shared responsibility between the classroom and the home, Jesus Cares Christian Academy recently spearheaded a comprehensive professional development session aimed at bridging the gap between educators and families. On May 22, 2026, the faculty gathered at the JCSGO Multipurpose Hall for “Partnering with Parents: Effective Communication, Conflict Resolution, and Collaboration,” a seminar designed to transform traditional school-home interactions into meaningful partnerships.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Mary Grace Espiel, a distinguished educator, school administrator, and Diwa textbook author who holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from UP Diliman. Drawing from her 15-year career and extensive background as a researcher and writer, Ms. Espiel moved beyond theoretical advice to offer a deep dive into the nuances of human connection. The discussion centered on fostering "proactive transparency"—the art of building trust before issues arise—and equipping teachers with the emotional intelligence required to handle high-stakes conversations with parents and guardians.
Immersive Role-Play and Problem Solving
Rather than remaining a lecture-based event, the seminar transitioned into a dynamic laboratory for interpersonal skills. During the "Application" phase, the JCSGO Multipurpose Hall turned into a series of simulated Parent-Teacher Conferences. Educators stepped into the shoes of both anxious parents and empathetic teachers to navigate realistic scenarios ranging from academic concerns to behavioral challenges. By physically practicing these interactions, the faculty developed a toolkit for de-escalating tension and reaching collaborative solutions that prioritize the student's holistic well-being.

This immersive learning experience was brought to fruition through the support and collaboration of Diwa Learning Systems Inc. and Bato Balani Foundation Inc. (BBFI), as part of their shared advocacy to empower Filipino educators with the leadership and communication skills necessary for the modern school environment.
