In a continuous effort to elevate the quality of education and foster a culture of inquiry within the classroom, Our Lady of Caysasay Academy (OLCA) recently hosted a high-impact seminar entitled "Effective Action Research for Transforming Instruction."
The seminar was designed to empower educators with the skills to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical classroom application. By focusing on action research, the program encouraged teachers to become "teacher-researchers" who can systematically evaluate their own teaching methods to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
Elevating Teaching Standards with Dr. Emma Sison
The session featured Emma Sison, PhD, a distinguished educator whose career spans over five decades of teaching in secondary and tertiary institutions. As a seasoned faculty member from De La Salle University and a veteran in teacher training, Dr. Sison provided a masterclass in professionalizing the teaching craft.
Drawing from her experience in authoring nearly 50 training modules, Dr. Sison emphasized that action research should be viewed as a vital diagnostic tool rather than a formal academic burden. She guided the participants through a framework that simplifies data collection and analysis, allowing teachers to address instructional challenges in real-time. By mastering these techniques, educators can ensure that their teaching strategies remain responsive to the evolving needs of their students.
A Collaborative Vision for Excellence
This professional development initiative was successfully organized in collaboration with Diwa Learning Systems Inc. and Bato Balani Foundation Inc. (BBFI). By bringing together the academy’s commitment to excellence and the instructional leadership of Diwa and BBFI, the seminar provided a valuable platform for educators to grow as "teacher-researchers." This partnership continues to support the mission of providing Filipino teachers with the tools necessary to thrive in the modern educational landscape.
